[edit] Objectives

The objective of the BLUG is to exchange information about Linux and FOSS among members, to help one another, to help spread the word about Linux and FOSS, and to generally have fun.

The motto of the BLUG is Focus, Fun, Decorum.

[edit] Interaction

The BLUG usually meets once a month, and also interacts via mailing lists.

[edit] Members

The BLUG has no formal membership process. "Members" are defined as people who attend the BLUG meets (primary requirement) and interact via the mailing lists. Note that the BLUG does not have the concept of "virtual memberships" - you have to interact in person and attend meets to be a member.

So the answer to "How do I become a BLUG member?" is "Attend the next BLUG meet". :)

[edit] The Coordinator

The BLUG is "run" by an animal known as "the coordinator" - the person who arranges the meets and generally ensures that things happen for the BLUG. The coordinator is chosen by an innovative form of selection - during a meet, when members feel that the old coordinator has run his/her course, someone raises the subject, and a new coordinator is chosen by "finger pointing". The person who has the most fingers pointing at him/her becomes the next coordinator. The term is undecided - it could be a few months, a year, a couple of years.

As of November 2007, the BLUG coordinator is Tejas Dinkar.
